JOB: Executive Director Opportunity- Washington State Gambling Commission
The Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the agency by working with the Commissioners, Ex-Officio members of the Commission, Representatives of the Governor’s Office, external stakeholders, agency executive staff and the agency Leadership Team to establish long-range goals, set strategic direction/priorities, develop statewide policies, and allocate resources.
The Executive Director reports directly to and serves at the pleasure of the Commissioners. As the chief administrator, this position is responsible for implementing the Commission’s policies and for leading and managing a statewide staff within the authority of RCW 9.46.080. This position oversees the licensing and regulation of charitable and commercial locations operating gambling activities, and in partnership with tribal governments, the regulation of tribal casinos within the state.
The successful candidate will bring a combination of solid management experience, leadership, and technical expertise. They must be comfortable with and competent in working with complex, politically sensitive, and publicly visible issues involving a wide variety of stakeholders. The Executive Director must be able to encourage and sustain strong strategic partnerships with the governor, legislature, tribes, customers, colleagues, and affiliate agencies.
Equally as important they must provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the agency are put into practice. They will lead the agency to achieve and surpass goals and objectives. Collaborate with the agency Leadership Team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel.
