 The Head of Digital Marketing is responsible for helping to define the Lottery’s digital strategies, leveraging its owned media to provide a digital consumer experience that builds the Lottery brand, and motivating audiences to play Lottery games to drive sales that generate incremental profits for public education.

 The Head of Digital Marketing provides supervision and managerial direction to the team responsible for the development and maintenance of the Lottery's Digital Properties, including the public website, the official mobile application, and social media marketing. Reporting to the Chief of Engagement & Retention Marketing, this dynamic digital marketing professional oversees the development of public website and mobile app plans, content and enhancements to ensure they are consistent with long-term strategies, and manages the planning and execution of paid and organic social media content, influencer marketing, search engine optimization and paid search initiatives. It is a critical role within the Sales & Marketing Division.

 The Head of Digital Marketing will balance both strategic focus with tactical campaign activation, maximizing results through the use of all elements of owned digital marketing channels. The success of this role requires the ability to drive results for key campaign performance indicators like awareness, consideration, intent, engagement, acquisition, conversion and retention while identifying content needs that feeds customer interactions across channels. They should be knowledgeable in the unique benefits each channel brings and skilled in the planning, design and timing of engagement delivery across a complex customer journey.

 The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to be creative, to initiate, and launch effective digital, mobile and social marketing programs, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and support aggressive timelines. They are adept at tapping into current trends and the social zeitgeist to plan and develop compelling content and editorial calendars. They will be known for identifying areas of opportunity with an eye on scalability and impactful change, and they are passionate about delivering great results through testing, and optimization. Moreover, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading, coaching and developing diverse teams and future leaders.

 The California State Lottery is a $7+ billion enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. Our mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.

 Starting Salary: $84,336
